Mastering Crisis Communication in a Digital World

Bangchak’s Gloyta Nathalang shares key strategies for managing crises effectively through transparency, agility, and proactive planning.

Crisis management took centre stage at the 29th Insurance Seminar, where industry experts discussed emerging risks in the digital age. The event, held at Chatrium Grand Hotel Bangkok and streamed online, gathered more than 300 executives, board members, and professionals. Dr. Somporn Suebthawilkul, President of the Thai General Insurance Association, opened the seminar.

Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President of Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications at Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, spoke on adapting crisis communication strategies to the evolving media landscape. She highlighted the shift from traditional media to digital platforms, where public perception is increasingly shaped by social media.

She outlined four key principles for effective crisis response:

  • Proactiveness – Identifying risks early to prevent escalation.
  • Preparedness – Establishing structured communication plans.
  • Transparency – Communicating with honesty and clarity.
  • Agility – Adapting quickly to changing situations.

She stressed the importance of continuous training and learning from past incidents to enhance crisis management skills. A well-prepared strategy helps businesses build trust, manage risks, and strengthen resilience in a fast-paced digital environment.

Her insights provided industry leaders with practical tools to handle crises effectively and navigate modern challenges.
