Opal Suchata Chuangsri, a 21-year-old from Phuket, has been crowned Miss World 2025 — becoming the first Thai woman in history to win the prestigious international title.
The grand finale took place on May 31 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, India, where Opal outshone over 100 contestants from around the world.
Representing Thailand, Opal brought together grace, intellect, and a powerful personal story. She is currently studying political science at Thammasat University. Her pageant campaign, titled Opal for Her, focused on breast cancer awareness and early detection — a cause inspired by her own experience undergoing surgery for a benign breast tumor at age 16.
Opal’s project won the “Beauty with a Purpose” award, one of the most significant honors in the Miss World competition. Judges and organizers praised her initiative for its depth, relevance, and real-world impact.
During the final Q&A round, Opal was asked about the importance of truth and leadership. Her full response, delivered with calm confidence, emphasized the role of leading by example and how actions speak louder than words — especially when guided by kindness and integrity. She was widely praised for her clarity and poise.
Outgoing Miss World Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic crowned Opal at the conclusion of the event. Julia Morley, Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization, described Opal’s performance and advocacy work as exemplary.
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin also publicly congratulated her, calling her a source of pride for the nation and an inspiration for the next generation of Thai youth.
Opal’s win marks a major milestone for Thailand, which has competed in the Miss World pageant since the 1950s but had never before taken the top title.
As Miss World 2025, Opal will now begin a year-long international tour supporting humanitarian projects and promoting her breast cancer awareness campaign. She has expressed plans to work with health organizations to expand education and early detection across Thailand and Southeast Asia.
Her historic win is being celebrated nationwide, as Thailand takes pride in seeing one of its own rise to global recognition — not just for beauty, but for purpose, resilience, and impact.
