Thailand’s Halal Industry Embraces AI for Global Growth

Global leaders gather in Bangkok to explore how AI and digital technology are reshaping the Halal market.

The 11th Thailand Halal Assembly 2024 (THA2024) took place at the Al Meroz Hotel in Bangkok from 19–20 December, showcasing Thailand’s commitment to advancing its Halal industry through innovation. Over 985 in-person participants from 40 countries and 7,613 virtual attendees from 34 countries joined the event, presided over by Akanat Promphan, Thailand’s Minister of Industry.

THA2024 focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Actual Implementation (AI) to enhance Halal product credibility and ensure global recognition. This approach aligns with Thailand’s ambition to lead in Halal innovation.

Assoc Prof Dr Winai Dahlan, Director of the Halal Science Center at Chulalongkorn University and THA2024 Chairman, highlighted the dual AI strategy:

The assembly featured two key conferences that highlighted advancements in science, technology, and business:

  1. The 11th International Halal Science and Technology Conference (IHSATEC)
  2. The 17th Halal Science, Industry, and Business Conference (HASIB)

Other major attractions included:

Dr Winai shared that the event supports Thailand’s efforts to increase its Halal market share, currently valued at USD 6.1 billion. Growth areas include tourism, medicine, and logistics.
