A national effort to build AI capabilities is underway as the Royal Thai Government and Microsoft Thailand drive the THAI Academy programme forward. The initiative aims to provide AI training for over one million individuals by the end of 2025, with support from more than 35 partners across both public and private sectors. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society leads the campaign.
The programme promotes equal access to AI education across the government, education sector, businesses, and underrepresented communities.

The government is working with the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission and the Digital Government Development Agency to upskill 100,000 civil servants. A dedicated programme called “Tech for Gov – Next Gen Gov AI Training” invites public sector workers to explore how AI can be applied to national projects.
The Department of Skill Development and Microsoft plan to train 2,000 instructors and officials. These individuals will later provide AI training to over 100,000 workers and job seekers nationwide.
The National Cyber Security Agency is leading training for 368 personnel from critical infrastructure organisations. A further 10,000 students will also receive AI and cybersecurity training.

The Ministry of Education is involved in training 4,500 teachers, aiming to indirectly reach over 400,000 students. Collaborations with IPST and NECTEC will help integrate AI content into the national curriculum for grades 4 to 12.
At the higher education level, 50,000 university students in tech-related courses will receive AI instruction under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Microsoft is also working with 20 universities to train faculty, embed AI learning in university systems, and introduce micro-credential models for self-paced learning.
AI in Business
Microsoft is teaming up with several organisations including the Digital Council of Thailand, Federation of Thai Industries, LiVE Exchange, OSMEP, SME Development Bank, and the Thai Chamber of Commerce. The goal is to help more than 20,000 SMEs benefit from AI. A major highlight of the business outreach includes the SMEs AI Skills Summit.
