Hotel101 Expands Into Egypt With $102 Million Cairo Hotel Project

Hotel101 Global is entering the African hospitality market with plans to develop a $102 million, 750-room hotel near Egypt’s Giza Pyramids, expanding its international presence as the country attracts growing interest from tourists and hotel investors.

The company, a subsidiary of Philippine-listed DoubleDragon Corporation, has signed binding agreements with WNTR Property & Hospitality, an affiliate of Egypt’s IGI Holding, to develop hotels across the country. The first project under the agreement will be Hotel101-Cairo West, located in Giza, on the western side of Greater Cairo.

The proposed hotel will occupy a 15,984-square-meter site in Hay Al Ashgar, along Ahmed Zewail Road in 6th of October City. It will be approximately 10 minutes from the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, placing it close to two of Egypt’s most popular tourist attractions. The location also offers connections to Greater Cairo and Sphinx International Airport.

Hotel101 estimates the project’s total value at 5.465 billion Egyptian pounds, or approximately US$102.09 million, with completion targeted for 2029. At 750 rooms, the property could become one of Cairo’s three largest hotels by room count, according to the developer.

A New Hotel Development in Egypt’s Growing Tourism Market

The announcement comes at a time when Egypt’s tourism industry is drawing considerable attention from international hotel operators. The country welcomed nearly 19 million tourists in 2025, according to figures cited by Hotel101, creating opportunities for new accommodation developments in established destinations such as Cairo and Giza.

Hotel101-Cairo West will target both leisure and business travelers, offering affordable accommodation with four-star amenities. Plans include all-day dining, swimming pools, a fitness center, and family-friendly facilities, alongside a ballroom, conference center, and meeting spaces.

These facilities would allow the property to cater to more than tourists visiting the pyramids. Corporate meetings, conferences, and business events could also become an important part of its operations, particularly given its access to the wider Cairo metropolitan area.

The partnership with IGI Holding also opens the door to further developments beyond Cairo West. While additional locations have not yet been announced, the nationwide agreement gives Hotel101 a local partner as it explores opportunities in Egypt’s hospitality market.

Hotel101’s International Growth Ambitions

Egypt is the latest destination in Hotel101 Global’s international expansion, which includes a hotel in Madrid, Spain, that began operations in March 2026.

The company uses a standardized hotel concept, with similar room layouts and services across its properties. Its business model differs from that of many traditional hotel operators: individual hotel units are sold in advance during development, while the company generates ongoing revenue from hotel operations.

Hotel101 says this model allows it to expand internationally while keeping its accommodation offering consistent and relatively affordable.

Its ambitions are substantial. The company has set a long-term goal of reaching one million rooms across 100 countries, although achieving that scale will depend on securing development partnerships, financing, and the necessary approvals in each market.

The Cairo West project is still subject to government, regulatory, corporate, and other required approvals, meaning construction and completion timelines could change.

For now, the agreement gives Hotel101 its first planned development in Africa and brings another international hotel brand into Egypt’s expanding hospitality market. If the project proceeds as scheduled, its 750 rooms will add significant accommodation capacity to western Greater Cairo by 2029.
