Thailand will host the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games from December 9 to 20, 2025. The event will bring together athletes from 11 Southeast Asian nations. It is one of the region’s most anticipated sporting events.
The Games will take place in three locations:
-
Bangkok, the capital city
-
Chonburi, on the eastern coast
-
Songkhla, in the south
This will be Thailand’s seventh time hosting the SEA Games. The country is preparing to meet international standards. Work is already underway to upgrade stadiums, training facilities, and transport systems.
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) says planning is on track. The agency aims to deliver a high-quality event. It also sees the Games as a way to promote sports tourism and boost the local economy.
The SEA Games will feature many popular sports. These include athletics, swimming, badminton, and martial arts such as muay thai and wushu. Most of the sports are also part of the Olympic and Asian Games programs.
Businesses in the host cities are getting ready. Hotels, restaurants, and transport operators expect a rise in visitors. The government also hopes the Games will support its goal of attracting 40 million tourists in 2025.
