The third “Chefs on Parole” will kick off on Saturday, March 8, bringing four more of Phuket’s top culinary artists to Mrs B Bar & Table in Cherngtalay. Joining Chef Alex Oddy in the kitchen will be Chef Nattaphon Othanawathakij “Oat” from Heh, Chef Saurabh Sachdeva from Tambu, Chef Suwijak Kunghae “Mond” from Royd, and Chef Luca Mascolo from The Smokaccia Laboratory.
As with the first event in June 2024, the prison-themed ‘release program’ will see some of the best chefs in Phuket freed of any supervision and constraints, other than a theme to build their menu around. Each chef gets one night when they are not representing a business or brand – just their own raw talent.
Chef Alex is a repeat offender, having represented The Jazzy Bakery and Mrs B Bar & Table during the first Chefs on Parole event. He brings over 20 years of international experience, spanning restaurants, cafés, clubs and premium resort brands. The Jazzy Bakery was the successful home bakery he ran in Phuket during the COVID-19 lockdowns, gaining fame for his superb sourdough bread and cookies.
Chef Oat brings the flavours of Melbourne to Phuket at Heh, his Australian contemporary restaurant in Phuket Town. He spent 10 years honing his craft there, catering to the city’s largest and most prestigious events like The Australian Open, Australian Grand Prix, and the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Returning to Thailand, he has worked in some of the top-ranked restaurants in Asia and the world before establishing Heh in 2019. The team at Heh competed and gained victories in Iron Chef Thailand in 2021 and Top Chef Thailand in 2023.
Chef Saurabh is the executive sous chef at Tambu, the rooftop Indian restaurant at Avista Hideaway Patong Resort & Spa Phuket – MGallery Collection. His career spans over 18 years, starting in his native India, then Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Thailand for more than a decade. With experience in luxury hotels, standalone restaurants, and Michelin-starred kitchens, he won an Iron Chef Thailand battle in July 2019.

Chef Mond is the owner and chef at Royd in Phuket Old Town and was previously the executive chef at the foto hotel. Born and raised in Phuket, he practically has Southern Thai cuisine in his blood, especially as his family have run the Kaab Gluay restaurant in Patong for more than 20 years. His outstanding takes on the traditional local cuisine won an episode of Iron Chef Thailand in 2020.
Born and raised among the farm fields of Puglia, Italy, Chef Luca Mascolo developed a deep connection to ingredients from an early age. By eight, he knew he wanted to be a chef, and his passion drove him to graduate cum laude from culinary school ahead of his peers. He refined his craft in Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury resorts worldwide, including Aman Resorts in Venice, Montenegro, and Amanpuri Phuket. His innovative approach has earned him prestigious awards, including the Culinary Scientist Award in Bangkok and the Trendsetter Award for Vegetarian and Vegan Cuisine. At his own restaurant, The Smokaccia Laboratory, he continues to explore new creative possibilities, blending molecular gastronomy with bold flavors and refined techniques.
Each chef will craft their menu around the theme ‘Family Matters’ – the childhood dishes they love to eat and reminisce about to this day after a few too many post-service cocktails.
This event will be hosted at Mrs B Bar & Table in Cherngtalay on Saturday, March 8. The ala carte menu is the place to try out the many dishes from the visiting chefs.
